Regarding Search Engine Optimization there are many techniques to do this. First step, in my opinion, is to optimize inside of your site. This means that your site should look somehow ... should look SEO.

A very important problem is the HTML code. It has to be valid. Check your site as long you can and improve it until you get the needed results: perfect. This is very important because almost search engine are parsing your site, and if you have problem this will be reflected there.

Another idea is the page title. It is somehow a respect for your client; you show him what he will get. So the title should contain the subject and, optional, your signature. Nothing more and nothing else. The client will reject you if you try to „spam” it. The same behavior will be and with the search engines. And you don’t want this, because Google is important!

Many people believe that meta-tags are very important. Yes this is important, but not as important as the content. The meta-keywords content and meta-description should contain something about your page content; also, the keywords must be refunded in the web page, this is very important.

The content should be clear, simple. There are some people who fail, believing that if they put the words with a standard quantity, percents, they will get into the top. Totally wrong! When you build a search engine, this should be based on some parameters; an important parameter is the human; the human will give to you a clear response about your page: yes and now. You will receive this response from ... the search engines, usually they know better your clients behavior.

The links that are on your site should be absolute url! That means that all your links will start with http://www.domain.com/; in this way, when the robot will get to you link will know exactly where to go, there will not be a spider decision, it will be exclusively your decision.

I write in a previous post something about „always to use www”. Yes, this is important because of the statistics. Latter you will learn how to make queries at the search engines, to see how you are indexed.
